Extracurriculars
I am a tour guide for potential students, a volunteer math tutor, and a captain of the Girls Varsity Soccer team in the fall. I also lead a winter barre class on campus as an after school activity.
Service
As a senior I have joined Watkinson's Student Foundation. In this club, we plan and lead service-based activities in the surrounding Hartford community, including an annual Turkey Drive providing food for up to 200 low income families, and encourage school wide participation in service. I have also traveled to the Dominican Republic with a Watkinson-associated service organization three years in a row. |
Social Justice
Watkinson's community has given me the confidence to speak my mind and take initiative. I am a leader of the school's United Through Difference club, an alliance group based on student discussion of discrimination and prejudice in our society and how we can create change.
Watkinson's Social Justice Day is a school wide event where students can create and lead workshops pertaining to issues they are passionate about. Last year, my friend Olivia and I led fifteen students in a discussion of sexual harassment culture in schools. This year, alongside my peers Dawit and Youssef, I led a workshop on Data Privacy and legislature. You can find more about this workshop on my Capstone page!

Future Plans
I hope to major in economics and pursue a career in finance and mathematics. This fall, I took Calculus I/II at the neighboring University of Hartford using Watkinson's "College Now" partnership. I am also interested in ethics and psychology. Controversial dilemmas and critical thinking fascinate me, and I love discussions with those who have different viewpoints than me.
